Daniel Edery is a Canadian from Toronto who graduated from Yeshivat Or Chaim, one of the Bnei Akiva private Jewish high schools in Toronto, in 2016.
Edery then immigrated to Israel and joined the Israeli military. His LinkedIn profile states that he was discharged from the military in 2019, and then went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Reichman University. He now works at Ohr Torah Stone, an Orthodox organization in Israel, as a social worker.
In May 2019, the Mizrachi Canada YouTube page posted a video of Edery surprising his parents in military uniform at an event.
Edery’s father, Abraham Edery, has been an account executive at the Friedberg Mercantile Group, Ltd., since 1994, according to his LinkedIn profile. The company’s charitable foundation, the Friedberg Charitable Foundation, has received critical coverage of its substantial charitable donations, including to the Ne’eman Foundation, which had its charitable status revoked by the CRA in 2024 after the agency found it had failed to be “constituted and operated exclusively for charitable purposes.” The non-charitable activities cited by the CRA included supporting Israel’s armed forces, particularly lone soldiers. (The Ne’eman Foundation is challenging this move in court.)
