Gill Rosenberg, 42-43, is a Canadian who was born in Vancouver and raised in White Rock, B.C. Rosenberg attended a private Jewish high school in Vancouver, now known as King David High School. In 2006, a few years after graduating, Rosenberg immigrated to Israel. The National Post reported, “After taking some Hebrew language training, Ms. Rosenberg joined the Home Front Command and was eventually qualified as a non-commissioned search and rescue instructor. She had ambitions to work for Mossad, the Israeli secret service. At one point she applied for an officer’s course but was rejected.” She served until 2008.
In 2009 Rosenberg was arrested in Israel and extradited to the United States for her role in a lottery fraud scheme that targeted elderly Americans. She was sentenced to four years in prison, but her sentence was cut short and she was deported back to Israel.
In 2014, Rosenberg made international headlines for allegedly being the first woman to join the Kurdish YPG militant group that was fighting against ISIS. She returned to Israel in July 2015.
