JENNA GREENBLOOM

Jenna Greenbloom, 31-32, is a Canadian from Toronto. In grade eight she spent a year in Israel with her mother and a sister, and started thinking about immigrating there. She told The Canadian Jewish News (CJN): “As soon as we got back to Toronto, I was like, ‘I want to live there.’ I really liked everything, the culture, the atmosphere. I felt like I had more freedom there.”

In grade 12, she started the immigration process, and headed to Israel at 17 in 2010. She immigrated through the Garin Tzabar program, and hoped to be involved in “field intelligence” in the military. Greenbloom did eventually complete her military service, according to her father, Todd Greenbloom.

Todd told the National Post that he tried to convince Jenna to go to university in Canada before heading to Israel, but she told him she wanted to be an Israeli citizen. He told CJN, “Once Jenna makes up her mind, she’ll rarely, if ever, change [it] […] She enjoys being in Israel so much. She feels a closeness to the people. She has very good friends there.” The National Post reported that Jenna spent two and a half years in the military, much of it patrolling the border with Egypt.

Todd is described in the National Post article as a Toronto lawyer. He is a partner at a law firm in Toronto.
