Lawrence Witt is the author of a November 2023 article in The Canadian Jewish News that describes his volunteer efforts in Israel following Oct. 7, 2023. An editor’s note at the end of the article states: “Lawrence Witt is a labour, employment and human rights lawyer in Montreal. In the early 1990’s, he studied at Yeshivat Machon Meir in Jerusalem and served in the IDF as a lone soldier in the Armored Corps. Lawrence, together with his wife Deena and their three children, has been in Israel since the onset of the war. Along with his friends, Franck Azoulay and Judah Aspler, he mobilized a food truck and volunteers and has served nearly 4,000 fresh BBQ meals to IDF soldiers on bases and field outposts on the northern and southern borders, as well as to displaced residents of the south currently being housed in the Dead Sea area.”
Witt has also written a blog for The Times Of Israel. His author bio states: “Lawrence Witt is a labor, employment and human rights lawyer with the Canadian firm Miller Thomson LLP. In 2017, Lawrence was co-chair of the Montreal March of the Living Delegation comprising of 250 participants accompanied by 10 Holocaust survivors. In 2019, Lawrence received the Gertrude and Henry Plotnick Young Leadership Award from Federation CJA. Lawrence is also a graduate of the Wexner Heritage Program. Moreover, Mr. Witt sat and continues to remain involved with the boards and executive committees of a private school, a museum and other not-for-profit charitable organizations in Montreal. Prior to his career in law, Mr. Witt worked as a sales and marketing manager for an international airline and during his studies, he was a legal intern with the International Air Transport Association (IATA).”
