MEIR GERICHTER

Meir Gerichter, 32-33, is a Canadian who attended Westmount Collegiate Institute in Vaughan, Ont., for high school and then spent a year working toward a bachelor of music degree at Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ont., according to his LinkedIn page.

Gerichter then went on to serve in the Israeli military as a sergeant in an Iron Dome unit from February 2012 to February 2014. Following this, Gerichter returned to Canada and worked as a “security officer” at the United States consulate in Toronto for around a year.

A second LinkedIn profile for Gerichter, which focuses on his experience as a pianist, states, “Meir Gerichter is a musical marvel and virtuoso pianist with a knack for bringing the best music ever written to life—and making it sound even better! His ambitions shoot past the stars, fueled by his endless quest to play extraordinary pianos in extraordinary places. A former child prodigy, Meir has wowed crowds at TIFF, played for Anne Hathaway, and graced the pages of magazines, newspapers, and even CIUT Radio 89.5 FM. He once flew to Los Angeles for a private gig so impressive, it came with an $11,000 gift to buy a Steinway & Sons grand piano. When Meir plays, hearts soar, and music lovers are reminded why they fell in love with music in the first place.”

In May 2024, City News reported that Gerichter had been arrested and “charged with assault after a woman claimed she had been physically attacked” at a March 2024 protest outside a synagogue where land in the West Bank was being sold. Later that month, Rebel News reported that the charge had been dropped.

In December 2024, Toronto Police told Gerichter at a protest to take off a sweater he was wearing with the Jewish Defence League logo on it.
