Miya Hames is listed in a November 2020 newsletter from the Beth Avraham Yoseph of Toronto Synagogue as someone currently serving in the Israeli military. The newsletter asks congregants to keep the names of Hames and other children or grandchildren from members of the synagogue serving in the Israeli military in their minds. Six names were listed at the time, though in later issues that would surge to more than 30.
