MENDY KANOFSKY

Mendy Kanofsky is a Canadian who graduated from Yeshivat Or Chaim, one of the Bnei Akiva private Jewish high schools in Toronto, in 2019, according to an issue of the school’s magazine.

Kanofsky immigrated to Israel after high school and joined the Israeli military in 2021, according to multiple sources. His entrance into the Israeli military was announced in the fall 2021 issue of Nachas News, a newsletter associated with the Kehillat Shaarei Torah synagogue in Toronto: “Rabbi Joe and Sharona Kanofsky announced their son Mendy Kanofsky was sworn into the Israel Defense Forces at the Kotel with members of the KST family on-hand.” As indicated, Kanofsky’s father, Joe Kanofsky, is the rabbi at that synagogue.

Kanofsky’s entrance into the Israeli military was also noted in a 2022 issue of Bnei Akiva’s magazine, where he and other alumni in the Israeli military were photographed together and celebrated. The other alumni, all of whom are included in this database, are: Haim Mamann, Ben Nemirov and Mayer Weinberg.

Kanofsky’s LinkedIn states that he served as a “Sergeant in The Paratroopers Brigade” from January 2021 to August 2022, and then returned to North America. His profile states, “My time as a Sergeant in the military and leadership roles as Captain of my baseball team and a Resident Advisor have further developed my abilities in team management, problem-solving, and effective communication.” He is now based in New York.

Kanofsky has spoken publicly about his time in the military.
