Dylan Garber is a Canadian from Montreal who attended McGill University for his undergraduate degree in political science and history and the University of Montreal for law school.
A bio for Garber on the Lalotte Ventures venture capital firm website states: “Dylan has served in the Israel Defense Forces.”
His service is also mentioned in articles from The Jewish Standard Magazine and The Suburban. The April 2019 Jewish Standard Magazine article about Garber’s father, Mitch Garber, states, “[His] son Dylan is currently a Lone Soldier serving in the Cyber Defense Unit of the Israel Defense Forces.” The April 2020 Suburban article about Israeli soldiers that have been killed, meanwhile, states, “Dylan Garber, son of business leader Mitch Garber, said his experiences as a lone soldier in Israel reinforced how Israelis and Jews around the world are one family.”
Garber now works as a lawyer at Renno & Vathilakis, a law firm in Montreal, according to his LinkedIn profile. A bio for Garber on that site states, “Dylan Garber is a lawyer at Renno Vathilakis, where he began as a student and completed his articling. He works on a variety of files, including bankruptcy and insolvency matters, shareholder disputes, oppression claims, as well as family law cases involving divorce and youth protection (DPJ).[…] Dylan has a strong interest in commercial litigation and family law, and he is highly client-focused, as shown by his active involvement in Montreal’s entrepreneurial community, both in venture capital and as a board member of ProMontreal Entrepreneurs. He is trilingual, speaking English, French, and Hebrew.”
Garber’s LinkedIn profile notes that he has volunteered at Federation CJA, a Montreal-based organization that is part of the Jewish Federations of North America, since 2017. The Jewish Standard Magazine article notes that Garber’s father was named the “Chair of the 2020 Combined Jewish Appeal Campaign” at Federation CJA, and that he is “a visionary business power broker and community leader in Canada and Israel […] internationally respected for his success in both business and philanthropy.”
The article adds, “Garber and his wife, Anne-Marie Boucher, commit a considerable amount of their time and money to philanthropy, notably in Montreal and Israel. Mitch is a patron and contributor to the Weizmann Institute and Anne-Marie serves on the International Board; he is a patron of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation; and he and Anne-Marie are patrons of CIJA and have helped organize missions for non-Jewish business and political leaders to visit, learn about, and experience Israel. Mitch co-chaired Montreal’s 2016 $55 million Centraide campaign, and established The Garber Family Post Doctorate Fellowship in Hereditary Cancer at McGill’s Faculty of Medicine, in addition to several other charitable involvements.”
