Raz Hadar is a Canadian who grew up in Guelph, Ont. His LinkedIn profile notes that he was in the Israeli military from August 2015 to April 2018, and includes many details about his time there. It states that he was an infantry soldier, adding the following details: “Special Operations Asaulter [sic] (SOA) & Designated Sniper .338, .308 and .22 Rifle Operator.” His profile states that he completed “sharpshooter training,” “sniper training,” “Special Forces Counter-Terror Training” and “.22 Rifle Training.” This service is also mentioned in the bio section of his Instagram profile.
Hadar’s LinkedIn notes that he moved back and forth between Israel and Canada after his time in the Israeli military, working in several jobs, including as an actor in a “bit part” for the Netflix series Fauda and an “officer in training” at the Canadian Armed Forces from August 2022 to May 2024. He also completed a degree at the University of Ottawa in “Conflict Studies & Human Rights” with a minor in “Arabic Language & Culture.” His Instagram profile now describes him as an “aspiring intl. HR lawyer.”
Hadar was the subject of a November 2023 article from The Fulcrum, a student publication at the University of Ottawa, titled, “University of Ottawa student detained at Palestine rally for disrupting demonstrators.” The article states, “University of Ottawa student Raz Hadar was taken into custody on Sunday afternoon at the Palestine Unified Rally & March on Parliament Hill. The man was allegedly chanting ‘save Palestine from Hamas,’ as well as slurs and obscenities at protestors before being taken away by officers. Hadar, a second-year conflict studies and human rights student, confirmed his identity as the individual who was detained through his social media the day after. ‘This is all too similar to the situation I face with my university’s students’ union unacademic and antisemitic statement. I am not removing my Star of David, which the Nazis used to identify the Jews during the Holocaust, until they have removed their antisemitic statement,’ said Hadar in a post on Instagram.”
A November 2023 article at the RAIR Foundation USA website included an interview with Hadar. He stated, “No formal charges were brought against me; I was issued a trespassing permit, preventing my return to Parliament Hill for a full year.”
